In the Wilds of Africa

· Photos

From this title, you might assume that we live in the bush, but we really don't. My family has been out of town, and this title just seemed interesting. We were sort of out in the bush, but we were staying in a lovely house.

I know this post is out of order, but I decided that for today that instead of verses, I'd share some photos from our trip.

I have too many photos to put here, so I'm going to add some to my photography portfolio. I'll also be adding another category, so you can be watching for that!

This van is similar to the one my family drives. Except that our van doesn't have these words all over it. However, just above the license plate, it has the word "private", so no one thinks it's a public service vehicle.

On our trip, we had to pass over some hills down into the valley to get where we were going to. It was quite foggy up in the hills.

A photo of a dirt road leading off the main road. These women are going about their daily business.

A couple of kids playing with probably the only toys they own, a stick and tire, and some waterbottles.

These houses are made out of a material called mabati, which is sheets of metal.

A colobus monkey, seen from the house we were staying at. They resemble monkeys in skunk suits, not that I've ever seen such a thing!

Acacia thorns are not something you want to step on! These thorns can be from one to three inches long, and in some cases even four to five.

I don't know the name of this flower, but I thought it was really pretty!

This is a female collared sunbird, a bird that is similar to a hummingbird.

The place we were staying had goats down the road, and we had the privilege of feeding them. This female goat is busy chewing a fruit we gave her.

Here is another female goat. She was quite interested in my camera, so I was able to get this upclose photo of her.

These two kids were rather shy. They were really cute running around together, though!

This part of the river doesn't have hippos, but it's said to have pythons. It's still nice for wading!

I took this picture of a lavender bush with the sun in the background, making it a lavender silhouette.

This photo might look like it was taken at sunrise, but it was not. The background is the end of a sunset.

A true African sunset comes in bright yellows, oranges, and reds. This is a perfect example of one.

Taken at a different stage, this photo was taken on the same day as the one above. I thought it looked a bit like a crown of light.

This photo was taken on a different day than the previous sunset photos. To me, it looks like God is shining down His glory from the heavens.

Taken on the same day as the previous photo, but at a different stage, this photo is accented by the clouds around it.

On our last night, we had a fire, and the sparks going up from it made the photos look as if someone had hidden some fireworks inside the pile of wood.

I hope y'all enjoyed these photos! I couldn't decide which ones to put, so that's why there are double the normal amount for a post with photos.
