Our family has been in the U.K. for the past week and a half, but now we're in the U.S. We spent a couple of days in London, and then we went north for a family conference at a place called Capernwray Hall. It's an amazing place! Then we returned to London to do a bit more touring before going on the U.S. I've taken so many photos that I'll have to seperate them into three seperate posts. This one will be of the pictures I took in the first part of our visit to London.
This is a sight most people would recognize, though they might know it by the incorrect name. The Elisabeth Tower, often called Big Ben, is the tower's true name. Big Ben is merely the bell inside the tower.
The Shard is the tallest building in the U.K. It's outside is made completely of glass.
The gherkin is pickle shaped building found nearby to the Shard.
The London skyline is beautiful when seen from a pod in the London Eye at sunset. The River Thames is shown in this photo. If you look closely, you can seen part of the Houses of Parliament on the middle right. There are also two double decker buses on the closest bridge on the left side of the photo.
The London Eye is a centilevered observation wheel built for the opening of the new millinium. It was intended to be only a temporary structure, similar to the Eiffel Tower, but it has remained as a tourist attraction. It Europe's largest centilevered observation wheel.
Here is a view of the pod next to ours. The Eye has 32 pods, numbered 1-33, skipping the number 13.
London may be a cloudy, polluted place, but this view of the blue sky was beautiful to me. I like to get clouds in my photos. It makes them look more interesting.
And here is a classic photo of the British Museum. I think everyone takes this photo or a variation of it when they visit the museum.
I don't remember what this was, but I think it's beautiful, so here it is!
Pigeons are everywhere. Everywhere you go, pigeons can be seen. This one seemed to want his photo taken, so I gladly obliged.
I hope y'all enjoyed these photos! Next time I'll have photos of the second half of our stay, including the changing of the guard and a castle!
