Truthfilled Tuesdays will be days where I share devotionals, whether my own or one I really like that's written by someone else. This week I'm sharing one I wrote.
I read this verse the other day, and the words washed over me, reminding me what I live for, what I'm here for.
"Pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, steadfastness, gentleness. Fight the good fight of the faith." -1 Timothy 6:11b-12a
We are all called to fight the good fight. For many people, fighting the good fight doesn't mean anything. But I see the life and death struggle every day in Kenya.
Here, hopelessness is everywhere. Many people don't have money, food, or shelter. They have nothing. But yet, in that hopelessness, sometimes light shines through. Sometimes, somone somewhere gives something, and these people see the light. This is what fighting the good fight means.
Fighting the good fight means much to me. It means serving others even when you don't want to. It means giving up certain things. It means making new friends that you might never see again. It means pain and sadness. It means joy and happiness. It means serving my Lord and Savior.
We are called by God. We are called to fight His fight, the good fight, the fight of the faith. So wherever you are in the world, fight His fight. Let Him work through you.
The devil surrounds us with adversaries. Don't let him fool you. Fighting the good fight should be the purpose of our whole lives.
So live your life like you're fighting a war. Live it like you have a purpose, a meaning. And don't forget there are people out there that need prayers. They need you to fight the fight for them, that they might see light, that they might see hope, and ultimately, that they might see God.
Fight the good fight of the faith so you can say like Paul, "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith." -2 Timothy 4:7
